Yesterday was "International Talk Like a Pirate Day." Coincidence: I happened to have a pirate suit with me. I dressed this fellow in the suit. But, I have concealed his identity with photoshop blur tool so that I don't run into trouble with the law or other pirates, as this was for work.

They reel you in with catchy slogans like "Satan is your friend."

And force you to eat the good stuff.

You can only choose between a 6 egg or 12 egg omelet. I chose 6. Is it coincidence that in the 6th terrace of purgatory in Dante's Inferno the gluttonous are purged? I think not.

So we gluttoned.

Farewell to Frostad

I am not sure what kind of wedding advice John and Karen received, but I bet it was good.


When was the last time you had wedding cake you actually liked? Jon Caldwell made a chocolate cake that was to die for.


Not only that, he made one for every table. I love my two Jo(h)n's and Frostad is already missed.

There is nothing more glamorous than an evening standing on a football field at half time in a dress and heels next to floats made of cardboard, chicken wire, and tissue paper. I often wonder how some traditions ever even started. All of this for a casual dance afterwards that no one has ever attended.

This is a picture from Lara's debut in the Magic Valley Times. I guess her first cross country race of the season went pretty well.

The tomatoes which I planted at the beginning of the summer are finally ripe.

If you forget to stake your tomatoes, a patio chair is an acceptable solution.

Jessica Power

This part of my post is all about Jessica. She was a super hiker. She looks like a babe on the mountain....


...but scrambled over rocks like a mountain goat...


...sustained major skin loss on the bottoms of her toes, but the tops retained a fashionable sense of color... (I am loving the orange, btw.)

...uh, she may or may not be happy here...

...but she is definitely happy here!

(On a side note, we both ate steak after the hike and the boys all ate wuss burgers.)
